We are now about a third of the way through 2024, and we are definitely seeing some big trends regarding features and aesthetics requested for bathroom features in custom-built homes. From smart features being integrated into the design to certain retro looks that are now making a big comeback, we are going to take a look at the most popular trends to give you some ideas when you design the bathroom of your Oregon custom-built home.
Sustainability
That is a big buzzword this year and one that we would expect for many years to come. Sustainability is being promoted in just about every aspect of our lives, and it is saturating the home-building industry as well. One of the biggest ways we have seen this influence in bathrooms is by using smart fixtures that conserve resources while at the same time giving a more modern, tech-savvy look to the home.
High-tech Soaking
Ever since COVID, people have been looking to create experiences in their homes that they used to enjoy when they went out. One of the biggest pushes on this front is the home spa experience, which generally includes a large soaking tub in the bathroom.
However, this goes beyond just a tub as we see designs that create that “spa” feeling, such as smart temperature control for the soaking tub, lighting, music, and even TVs in the bathroom design. Most of these designs use considerably more space than you would see in what we would consider a “traditional” bathroom, so keep that in mind when you start to think about the square footage of your design.
Organic Designs
One of the most popular trends, especially in a state like Oregon, is the use of more natural materials in the bathroom. Live plants, wood, and stone are now being used to turn what was once just a functional room into a sanctuary for homeowners. This can turn a cold bathroom design into a room that promotes calm, soothing feelings.
Vintage is Back
We have seen a big move to bring vintage looks back throughout the home design process. As we have stated before, how far you go diving in on any trend will be impacted by whether you are planning to resell the home. That said, bold vintage colors that blend old-school with the more modern design are about as hot as it gets. We are seeing a lot of personalization in both the bathroom and kitchen right now, so this is your chance to have a little fun with the design to add your personality to the build.
