Yes, I know many of you are going through horrible heat waves, but the fall season will be here before you know it and you want to get your shopping done before everyone gobbles up the good stuff. So, we decided to post a few articles to get your new custom home ready for the fall and winter seasons.
The Transition
Believe it or not, we are only a few weeks away from the NFL preseason, and that means colder weather will be here before you know it. This means that we need to transition the home from summer to fall, so we put together a few ideas to help.
Picture Frames – I bet you never even thought of swapping out picture frames for the season, and I was skeptical at first, but they make a big difference. All of my frames are black and silver, so a friend recommended going to browns, golds, and, since I have red in my wall canvases, some deep reds for the fall. Honestly, I could not believe the difference it made.
Lampshades – when I think of the fall, I think of warm lights and the fireplace going, so we generally darken up our lampshades over the winter to create a bit more ambiance in our living spaces and master bedroom. If you want to take it to the extreme, consider switching out your lightbulbs to some warmer tones as well.
Throw Pillows – this is a pretty easy change, especially if you have a neutral-colored sofa that can work with several different colors. I promise you, your friends will be going nuts trying to figure out what changed in the room.
Wall Art – this kind of goes with the throw pillows. I have mentioned several times how I pick certain décor in the home to pull colors out of my wall art, so changing up the wall art gives you a chance to change out vases and plants in the home to match the wall art for that added pop. It is for this very reason that I use Command strips on all my canvases so I can just trade them out with seasonal changes.
HINT: I buy art that is the same exact size for each area, so I can pop one canvas down and add the new one without having to redo the strips. A quick check with the level is all that is needed.
