Another aspect of bathroom design that is really taking off is this new lean toward a hybrid aesthetic. With such a major push for the environment in home building, we are seeing designers create sleek, modern looks while incorporating reclaimed materials when possible, such as the frame of the bathroom mirror, light fixtures, and even the frame of the bathroom sink.
This is a great way to save money for those who are remodeling rather than building from the ground up. You can repurpose current pieces and with a redesign, give the bathroom a completely modernized look.
Livening Up the Bathroom
One of my favorite new trends is the addition of greenery in the bathroom. Now, if you have read previous posts, you already know that we love the trend of bathroom designs that lean more toward a spa feeling, which is why greenery in the bathroom is becoming a very popular trend. Be it hanging plants or creating a truly forest-like feel to the bathroom, it allows people to relax far more than the colder bathroom designs we have seen in the past.
If greenery is not your idea of relaxation, there are plenty of other ways to create the same vibe. For instance, installing adaptive lighting can work just as well for some. Generally speaking, bathrooms are very bright, but that does not necessarily work well when you are trying to have a quiet soak on a Saturday night. Installing adjustable mood lighting will work wonders to change the overall environment from a functional bathroom to a spa oasis.
Another way people are brightening up the bathroom look is with artistic tiles on both the floor and walls. This offers a fairly easy solution to breaking up the room’s color scheme and adding a splash of color that can be used in other accents when decorating the bathroom. As we have noted in other posts, this is a great opportunity to add a little personality to the room while also wowing visitors when they see it for the first time.
And remember, you don’t need to go outrageous here to make a big statement. You can use more subtle colors in the design specifically meant to enhance other décor in the room, even in more modern designs. For instance, in our bathroom, we have a light grey backsplash in the shower to go along with grey, white, and black artistic tiles that really make the marble sink and towels pop in the room. With a splash of red on the counter, it is a very subtle WOW during the first impression.
Stay tuned for Part 3, where we will discuss some of the hottest color trends in 2024 bathroom designs.
